Travel Photography Workshop at John C. Campbell Folk School - June 28-July 3, 2026

Mark your calendars!  I'll be returning to the John C. Campbell Folk School this summer to teach Wanderlust: The Art of Travel Photography from Sunday, June 28th to Friday, July 3rd, 2026. I've really enjoyed teaching photography workshops at this very special place since 2011. My most recent workshop was in June 2025 and it was such a pleasure having Margaret, Lundie, Al, and Janel in my workshop. To hear more about our week and to see my four students amazing work, please be sure to visit the blog HERE.

If this workshop sounds like something you'd like to take, you may find additional information and registration HERE. This workshop is great for the advanced beginner to intermediate DSLR or Mirrorless Camera photographer, however all levels are welcome!

View the current online catalogue for all workshops and events HERE.

My interview with Cory Marie Podielski from several years ago can be found on the folk school's blog HERE.

As of June 15th, 2026, there is still space for three (3) more students, however class sizes are limited. Don't wat too long!

Creative Smartphone Photography at the John C. Campbell Folk School - July 3-July 5, 2026

Exciting News! I've also added a weekend photography workshop this summer at the John C. Campbell Folk School, Creative Smartphone Photography, from Friday evening, July 3rd, to Sunday morning, July 5th, 2026.

You will gain skills to better understand proper lighting, composition, color, exposure, and go-to editing tools and apps to enhance your photographs.  We will be spending a little time in the classroom to start off with Friday evening. On Saturday, we will head out and spend time throughout the folk school's campus working on our assignments. Sunday will be selections of favorites and sharing with one another.

Although this workshop is best suited for the iPhone photographer, Android and Google Pixel photographers are welcome. For ALL LEVELS!

View the current online catalogue for all workshops and events HERE.

As of June 15th, 2026, this class is FULL! If you'd like to get on a waiting list, reach out to the JCCFS directly at (828) 837-2775 or reach out HERE.

PRIVATE LESSONS, GROUP WORKSHOPS, & MENTORING

PRIVATE LESSONS OR GROUP WORKSHOPS - Private lessons to individuals are available as well as workshops to smaller groups or clubs. Although I have taught a zoom class before (and would do it again), I find that you learn more in-person.

MENTORING - Please reach out if you'd like to learn more. I have mentored several high school and college students & young adults over the years. I love to teach, offer guidance, and be a great role model to those who are truly serious about photography and what it takes to run a business. With over 34 years in business, I'm a trusted professional.

Please reach out to me HERE for additional information, fees, and scheduling.
