How often should you update your professional headshots? The answer is every one to three years or when you have a career change or pivot in your current profession . The industry standard typically is 3 years for most professionals. However, it can depend on many factors such as your age, a significant change such as weight loss/gain, a new hairstyle or cut, new glasses, or you just need a refresher. Honestly, I'm guilty of this and will be scheduling with a friend/colleague for mine in the near future once my schedule slows down a bit!
When taking a look on LinkedIn, I often see many with just selfies and some that have been AI generated, which in my opinion is not your true self. You should always consider hiring a professional photographer as they can suggest outfits, makeup if applicable, how to wear your hair, and they know the best poses, and lighting whether on location or in the studio.
Earlier this summer, my client Toni scheduled her professional headshots with me on location in High Point. She was in need of some updated headshots as she was in the process of a career change. Toni brought two outfits - one for her professional look and another for a more casual look. I'm sharing several of my favorites, so that you can see that you'd have choices, should you schedule your professional headshot with me too. You are welcome to bring 1-3 outfits of your choice, if desired.
Professional headshots can be scheduled anywhere in the NC Triad and I also offer studio headshot. For your convenience, I can come to you and set up an on location studio at your place of business, office, or even at your home or if preferred you may come to me. For in studio, black, neutral grey, or white backdrops are available.
Take advantage of the current rates for the remainder of the year, as in 2026 there will be a slight increase in investment. Please contact us for details, including investment, and scheduling with Elizabeth Larson Photography.
