Student Work - Leaves, Light, and Lenses with Graham Recreation & Parks
May 3 2026 | By: Elizabeth Larson Photography
Just over two weeks ago, on Saturday, April 18th, I taught a really fun workshop "Leaves, Light, and Lenses" for Graham's Recreation and Parks as part of their Arbor Day Celebration festivities. This smartphone photography workshop was geared towards nature enthusiasts, all while learning simple tools and techniques.
In addition, they explored useful apps for capturing high-quality photos of trees, plants, and natural landscapes using their smartphones. This program encouraged outdoor exploration while highlighting one of Graham’s newest ecoEXPLORE locations, which was at the trails at Bill Cook Park. Participants documented nature, sharpened their observation skills, and built a deeper connection to the city’s natural spaces.
Although the class size was small, we had a great time and a beautiful spring day for it. I'm sharing some of my student's work here. Hope you enjoy and I see you in one of my upcoming workshops!
Thank you Daniela, Cristian, and Brandy for joining me. And also a big thanks to Brandy of Graham Recreation and Parks for also hosting.
Stay tuned for another announcement coming soon for a fall workshop with Graham's Recreation and Parks in celebration of the 20th anniversary of The Haw River Trail. The workshop will be taught by yours truly along the Longmeadow Trailhead. We hope to get the word out, because this workshop is going to be unique!
